in basic medium...BASE TAKES THE H+ OF OH TO FORM

^-O-CH₂-CH₂-CH₂-CH-Br

THEN INTRA MOLECULAR SN₂SUBSTITUTION ON -CH-Br TO FORM 5 MEM RING.

i.e. tetrahydro furane(THF) or 1,4-epoxy butane will form

so what...!!

intramolecular reactions are always preffered till 6 membered rings....coz they are faster....they get completed before another molecule attacks...(in terms of probability of course....)

only after 6 members the probability of intramolecular attack is less than intermolecular ones...
