How will u convert phenol to oil of winter green?
What is oil of winter green? Is it salicylaldehyde?

Oil of wintergreen........hmm.......is actually Methyl salicylate which is also known as salicylic acid methyl ester, betula oil, methyl-2-hydroxybenzoate..........................

Methyl salicylate that is OIL OF WINTER GREEN can be produced by esterifying salicylic acid with methanol.

phenol reacts with CCl4 +alcoholic KOH to form salycylic acid ,when this reacts with CH3OH esterification takes place to form methyl salysylate called oil of winter green.
