(A) FUMARIC ACID +BR2 IN CCL4            (p)    meso tartaric acid
 
(B)Maleic acid +alkaline KMNO4                (q) (d,l) tartaric acid
 
(C)Fumaric acid +alkaline KMNO4              (r) meso dibromosuccinic acid
 
(D) maleic acid +Br2 in CCl4                       (s) (d,l) dibromosuccinic acid

addn of alkaline kmno4 is syn addn therefore it gives with fumaric acid raecimic mixture. and with maleic acid it gives meso compound.
addn of Br2 is anti addn with fumaric acid it gives meso compnd and with maleic acid it gives raecimic mixture
