Oxidation of toluene with CrO 3 in the presence of (CH3CO)2I gives a product (A) which on treatment with aqueous NaOH produces-->

Benzaldehyde or benzoic acid?

i feel benzoic acid.

the product a is benzaldehyde which on canizarro reaction gives benzoic acid and benzyl alcohol.rate if helped

the  initial reaction with CrO3  is called as etard reaction
