yes it does with the liberation of hydrogen jst like alcohols

8884 Both alcohols and phenols react with active metals like Na, K, Mg, Al, etc. to form their salts. 2 C6H5OH + 2 Na ® 2C6H5ONa + H2 Phenol reacts with NaOH but not alcohol.

yes they do react man they react with sodium tyo form sodium phenate. phenols r obtained through coal tar distillation durin their formation they react with sodiun to sodium hydroxide then carbon dioxide is passed to form carbonic acaid upon distillin this we get sodium
