what is allene , ?

octane no. - it is defined as %age by vol. of iso- octane in the mixture of iso - octane and n-heptane wich has same antiknock quality fuel under examination
it is zero fr n-heptane
cetane no. - it is %age by vol. of cetane in the mix. of cetane and alpha-methylnaphthalene wich has same antiknock qualities as fuel under examination

allene - H2C = C = C =CH2
it is formed as
BrCH2 - =- C - CH2BR ------------>H2C = C = C =CH2 (on arrow Zn , heat) ( =- tripple bond)

octane number is used to measure the quality of petrol whereas cetane number is used to measure the quality of diesel
