wiki says sumthin about ethanol having a "non polar end" ... maybe thats the reason ?

Most non-polar molecules are water insoluble (hydrophobic) at room temperature - so if ya take water as the standard , ethanol has a slightly bulky hydrophobic side (as compared to water) and hydrogen bonding is reduced .... so its polarity is reduced ... convinced ?
