ethylacetoacetate +NaOC₂H₅ --------->A(C₆H₉O₃Na) , A + I₂------> B(C₁₂H₁₈O₆) + NaI , B + dilute acid + heat -------->2,5-hexadione
+ carbondioxide + ethanol.
