Stability order
Engineering Entrance , Medical Entrance , AIPMT , JEE Main , AIIMS , JEE Advanced , Chemistry , Organic Chemistry

1. Hw is it that I- more stable than F- , despit the fact that Iodine is less electronegative than Fluorine and negative charge on more electronegative element is more stable?

2. Hw does intermolecular and intramolecular Hydrogen bonding affect acidic strength?

So between ortho nitro phenol and para nitro phenol, which wud be stronger acid?

and yeah it is wrong that I- IS MORE STABLE THAN F-

para is more due to intramolecular h.b. Is stronger than inter

Hey, could it be dat since I- has greater size dan F- , charge dispersion is more so I- becomes more stable?

yes, it is true that I- is stable then F- and reason is the large size of iodine.....large size, same charge,less charge density, less reactive, more stable....and also I- has high polarising power than F- again the reason is dispersion of electron cloud....thats why I- is more nucleophilic then F-

and so stability defines leaving group tendency and we have For halogens, I > Br > Cl >> F
