If A is more electronegative than B for H—A and H—B:
~ 16 ~
Hδ+---- Aδ− and Hδ+ ---- Bδ−
1) Atom A is more negative than atom B ⇒ the proton of H—A is more positive
than that of H—B ⇒ the proton of H—A will be held less strongly ⇒ the
proton of H—A will separate and be transferred to a base more readily.
this is from an organic e book......i did'nt get this part...."the proton of H—A will be held less strongly"....
plzzz explain..

ok...now A is more electronegative than B
with increasing electronegativity, the H-A bond bcums more polar.
so,the proton of H—A will be held less strongly or u can say the release of proton is easily facilitated.

Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory.

yes, in the book
its
HI>HBr>HCl>HF
bt here , even the size plays a role doesnt it??
i mean is stable coz of its size....so removal of H+ will be facilitated easily

well
u see
A is more electronegative than B
so the bond between H-A will be weaker than H-B
so H-A will react with bases readily than H-B
