use nucleophilic substitution mechancism..u ll get the answer...

 With KCN the halogen will be replaced by CN

With AgCN the halogen will be replaced by NC ( isocyanide formation)

In case of benzene the halogen atom is difficult to be replaced under ordinary conditions, so no reaction with both KCN and AgCN
