Carbon next to functional group is alpha carbon for e.g in CH3CH2COOH C in bold is alpha carbon  & in CH3CH2OH Carbon in bold is alpha carbon

allylic carbon is the carbon attached to another carbon which is attached to double bond.  CH2=CH-CH3.the bold carbon is allylic.

carbon attached alpha carbon is called beta carbon
CH3-CH2-OH
allylic carbon is the carbon attached to CH2=CH-CH3
