see usually CH3 acts a ortho para directing group only by HCR conjugation but in the case of CX3 where X is a halogen it shows a high amount of -I effect see here C-X bond makes C highly electron deficient and have a +charge which which goes in resonance with the ring creating + charge in ortho and para positions so it is meta directing understood ah???
