the partial pressureof ethane over a saturated solution contianing 0.0656g of ethane is 1 bar . if the solution contians
0.005g of ethane , wat shall b de partial pressure of dee gas

Hi!!! shipra,
 Here is the solution for the problem you have posted I think it is correct:
Many of us will approach the problem with Raoult?s Law. Here is a word of caution Raoult?s only holds for liquid mixtures and it is limiting law which is to say that it is only applicable when the interaction between insolvent and the solute molecules is the same. Many textbooks do not mention these two things.
Therefore in this problem it is essential to use Dalton?s law.
 
Pethane =  1 bar 

P(water vapour) = 17..54mm Hg at 20 degree centigrade

 
Since 1 bar corresponds to 0.0656g
X bar corresponds to 0.005g
                       
The vapour pressure of ethanol is 0.076 bar

Rao Prabhat is exactly right.

In case of mixture of gases Dalton's law of partial pressure should be applied.
