for the reaction >>>

1 )   A ------->  PRODUCTS     >  RATE =  K 1

2 )  2A -------> PRODUCTS     > RATE  = K2

WHERE K1 AND K2 ARE RATES OF REACTION .

NOW IS K1 EQUAL TO K2 OR IS IT HALF OF K2

OR IS IT THAT DEPENDING UPON THE ORDER OF THE REACTION 2A GIVING PRODUCTS WE CAN DETERMINE  ??

REFER TO PAGE 593  R.C.MUKHERJEE QN 5

2A -------> PRODUCT

ISNT THIS AN ELEMENTARY REACTION ??

THEREFORE I EXPECT IT TO BE SECOND ORDER REACTION AS MOLECULARITY IS 2 .

HENCE RATE IS NOT EQUAL TO RATE OF DISSAPEARANCE OF A  PER MOLE .

U GOTTA USE INTEGRATED RATE LAW

PLEASE EXPLAIN .

If these two products are different, the reactions are different and

there's no reason why the two rates shud be equal or half.... (except

coincidently)

So, the product is the same.

Let it be A --> B.....R=k1

So, this is the elementary reaction, which is of first order.

If the rate constant is K, and conc of A = a, then

k1=Ka

For the second reaction, since the reaction is same, it shud be

2A--->2B

That means just the conc of A is doubled...nothing else has been done.

So, k2 = K.2a = 2k1

k1=k2/2

well u can't predict the rate of rections by jus looking at them. its a pure experimental phenomenon...u have to find the conc of reactant left or conc of product formed after freezing the reaction in a interval of 5 to 10 mins and then finding the reading for the infinite time...by heating the reaction mixture.

after that graph is ploted b/w conc of reactant left and time...the nature of graph w'll tell u the order of reaction..

2A----> product can be fst order if rate  [A]     and second order if it comes out to be [A]

and if its [A] then its elemantry reaction bt if its [A]2  then it can be elemantry or complex that depends upon the mechanism of the reaction.

unless reaction are same it cant be equal,and if they are same reaction then for k1=k2 temp has got to be same too and also take in accont that order hs to be also same....let me know expert if i m wrong
