1)n factor or valency factor for an acid is the number of replaceable H atoms , i.e. H atoms which are attached to highly electronegative element 2)lly, for a base it is the no of replaceable OH- groups 3)for a salt it is the total -ve charge or the total +ve charge over the salt 4)For redox reactions it is the change in oxidation number per mole of species.
