Cool goIITian
cations are positive or negative?
what about anions?
and in electrolytic cell anode is negative and cathode is positive ?am i right
and which other cell is there in which there is anode positive and cathode negative??
Blazing goIITian
Cations +ve like Na+
Anions -ve like Cl-
For electrochemical cells remenber 1 thing only
LOAN- Left Oxidation Anode Negative.
This implies that Cathode is +ve in electrochemical cells.
In electrolytic, polarity is opposite( Anode is + and Cathode is -ve)
Scorching goIITian
Cations are +ve e.g. Na+ , Cu2+
& anions are -ve. e.g. Cl- , O2-.
Cathode is -ve & anode is +ve.
i.e. at cathode, reduction takes place, whereas at anode, oxidation takes place.
In electrolytic anode is +
In electrochemical anode is -ve.
