in electrochemistry oxidation and reduction are the main things.
oxidation is loss of electrons
reduction is gain of electrons

for doing cell reaction u must know about oxidising and redusing power of elements for example Zn is more electropositive than Cu so reaction is Zn +Cu+2 gives Zn+2+Cu in this case oxidation of zinc ouccers.in other example Cu is more electro positive than Ag so oxidation of copper occurs.for done better in cells u must know eletrochemical series.
