nothing happens because acetaldehyde has no replaceable H+ atoms attached to very electronegetive atom

Since the medium is aqueous, the cyanohydrin formed gets hydrolysed to an acid, hence b)

yeah right......... but HCN is very weak acid......... so it wont give out many H+ ions...... but if K reacts wid acetaldehyde... it will form a fully dissociatable salt... hence the solution should become alkaline... pH increases.... but i dont think KCN can react wid aldihydes ......... CN- is stronger than aldehydes..

hey it is an aqeous medium KCN dissociates to form CN- and the H+ is provided from the medium so it does react but my doubt is that if KCN is there it is a salt of strong base weak acid so it would make the medium basic no so even though the cyano hydrin is acidic i accept but still KOH is the strongest base no??? so shouldnt pH increase but i am not sure calrify my doubt no???
