An electron is accelerated by a P.D. of 1000 volts. Calculate its de broglie
 wavelength

Calculate the wavelength of X rays emitted, when this electron strikes a solid

Well the De-Broglie wavelength is approximately (taking significant figures in consideration) 0.389 x 10 to the power -10 metre or simply 0.389 Amstrong.
It is just the formula Srujana ...h / root over 2 m e V ....where
m=mass of electron in kg
e=charge of electron in Coulombs
V= p.d given
h=Planks constant
Now I hate to ask this ....but please rate me .

Potential is defined as the energy per unit charge.

if potential=V and charge=e ; Energy=eV

By energy conservation eV=mv^2/2
                                 =  (1.6*10-19)(1000)=(9.1*10-31)v2/2
                                 = v=18.7*106

De Broglie wavelength = h/mv
                                 = (6.6*10-34)/(9.1*10-31)(18.7*106)
                                = 0.38 A

The answer for the first question is 0.3868 angstrom.
and the answer for the second question is 392.13 angstrom.(=12400/
V angstrom)
