Chapter: Concept of acid base and oxidation Reduction Pg No. : 243 -247 Objective Questions Q. No. 13 The compound which could act both as an oxidising agent as well as a reducing agent is A) SO2 B)MnO2 C)Al2O3 D)CrO3 The answer is given to be Al2O3 but SO2 can also act as the same. Q NO.27 One mole of N2H4 loses 10 mol of electrons to form anew compound Y. Assuming that all nitrogen appears in the new compound, what is the oxidation state of nitrogen in Y?(There is no change in the oxidation state of nitogen) A)+3 B)-3 C)-1 D)+5 How to solve this? Q No. 49 The oxidation number of Ni in Ni(CO)4 A)-4 B)4 C)0 D)+2 Please provide detailed solution Q no. 58 The oxidation number of phoisphorous in Ba(H2PO2) is A)+3 B)+2 C)+1 D)-1 Pls. provide detailed solution Q no.64 Oxidation number of iron in Fe0.94O is A)+2 B)+3 C)200/94 D)8/3 What does that 0.94 mean and what effect does it have on the oxidation number of Fe?

answer for Q.27
let new oxidn.state be a.
then change in oxidn no.of nitrogen-2a-(-4)
for we consider change for 2 atoms.
but change=total electorns lost by one electron by one mole
thus
2a+4=10
a=+3.
