the standard reduction potential's of half cell OClminus/Clminus,OHminus and Cl2/Clminus are 0.94 and +1.36 volt respectively.what is the reduction potential of half cell whose cell rxn is represented as
   2OCl+2H2O  +2e-  ------->Cl2  +4OH-
(a)0.21
(b)0.52
(C)1.04
(d)2.1

keep it up!!!!!!!!!11

 i hope my answer is correct
IN THE GIVEN HALF CELL REACTION 2-MOLES OF OCl- ARE USED
SO FOR A E1=2*0.94=1.88
IN THE PRODUCT WE ARE GETTING 1-MOLE OF CHLORINE
  E2=1.36
E FOR THE OVERALL REACTION=E1-E2=1.88-1.36=0.52

In the reaction of Cl2 and OH-, the ptoducts are OCl- and Cl- ions. In the given question, the given reaction does not include Cl- ions, whereas the E0 values of two half cells OCl- , Cl-, OH- and Cl2, Cl- are given.If we combine these two half cells, the overall reaction will not be as given in the question.
Please check the question.
