Lanthanide(La){57} has an irregularity in filling up of the orbitals. 5-d is filled by an electron therefore violating the Aufbau Principle. Why?

The same case is applicable for actinide as well.

According to Aufbau Principle, 4-f should be filled first. and then 5-d. But it is not happening.

Thats bcos of the screening effect produced by the inner electrons.

Due to screening effect the inner electrons shield the outer electrons and the attractive force of the nucleus is somewhat decreased. Thus 5d orbital is filled first instead of 4f orbital thus violating Aufbau Principle.
