its beoz the center element i.e p makes 3 sigma bonds with the oxygen .and a pair of electrons is left.therefore according 2 formula hybridisation = no of sigma bonds +no of pair left. = 3+1 =4 and here s occupies 1 n p occupies 3. therefore its sp3 hybridisation

ishita the answer is sp3d because phosphorus has empty d orbitals and electrons from p orbital move towards d orbital

see in a compound the tendency of an electron of an atom in any element present in the compound(in this case H,P & O) is to move to different orbitals.here the empty or vacant d orbital of phosphorus is filled by one electron which comes from its p orbital.since s and p orbitals all are half filled and one d orbital is filled with one electron its sp3d which means 1,3,1 electron in s,p,d orbital resp. i can't explain much better than this if i'm wrong(which i'm sure not) or i'm unable to explain you clearly don't rate me and ask your doubt from a forum expert
