[H+] = 10-8 PH = - log[H+] = 8 thus pH of HCl is 8

aerostar where are your concepts how can the ph of hCl be greater than 7.These type of questions have a diff method to solve. HCl ----> H+ + Cl- 10^-8 10^-8 10^-8 if H+ conc decreases from 10^-7 then we have to add 10^-7 to the given conc(here we will add 10^-7 to 10^-8) [H+]=10^-8+10^-7 =10^-7(1.1) pH=log(10^-7)(1.1) =6.996(very less acidic.) Hope you got the answer. do rate if useful.

yeah d second person is correct ...HCl is an acid so pH is<7 thus it cant b 8 as d first person guessed
here we also hav 2 consider d [H+] frm water ie 10^(-7) in addition to [H+] frm HCl

don't walk as if u rule d world
walk as if u dont care who rules d world
