i think its colorless (white), as color if formed when excitation followed by photon emmission to come back to the ground state takes place. here its said that it is already in ground state, so no color.

its depend upon there electronic configuration ,if contain unpaired electron these are paramagnetic and coloured for ex Ni +2,Cr +3 Cu+2 while if does not contain unpaired electron diamagnetic and colouress for ex Cu+1 and Zn+2.
