Sir in common ion effect why don't we consider effect of HCl on H2O ? also pl. give information on activation energy.

who says we don't consider the effect of HCl on water....

it's mainly depends on the conc. of HCl.

if the conc. of the HCl is high than we neglect the contribution of H+ ion from water.....

and at very low conc of HCl we consider its contribution...

e.g. at 10 ^ (-6) M HCl .....

[H+] = [H+ from water] + [H+ from HCl]

no there is consideration for example if 10 -s power of -8 PH is not 8 we also added hydrogen ion from H2O then PH comes almost 7. u ask second question related with activation energy ,threshold enegy =activation energy +potential enegy ,threshold energy is minimum energy required to convert reactants into product .by the help of catalyst we basically decreses activation energy.
