1 mole N2H4 looses 10 mole electron to form new compound x .assuming that all nitrogen appears in the new compound, what is the oxidation state of N in x.
given that o.s. of hydrogen remains unchanged.

N2H4   ,X
here in  N2Hthe O.N. of H is -4 and that of N is +4
when X is formed N looses 10 electrons so the  net charge on  N2 =+4-10= -6
since 1 molecule of N  has 2 atoms  so one atom has    -  6/2=- 3   ON
hence N has -2 ON

In this compound oxidation state of N is -2. On loss of 5 electrons per atom it will become +3
