1. why electronegetivity of N-H is greater than dat in N-F bond due to which NH3is more polar den NF3?
2. wht is d actual structure of ClO2 ? is it angular, if yes plz explain.....

in NF3 the dipole moment of F atom is cancelled out but the resultant of other two F atoms...so it has less dipole moment(for values check them frm book...i dont no the exact value) than the NH3 also in NH3 ,there is H bonding which makes is it more polar than NF3...........................and in NF3 the hydrogen bonding is less in comparison to NH3 due to the pesence of big atoms of Flourine (F) in NF3
ok???
got it................tell me if i am wrong...

In NF3,The directions of dipole moments are from N to F's and from N to lone pair. The resultant due to N-F's is almost cancelled out and so,it has less dipole moment.
In NH3,the directions are from H to N and from N to lone pair. So,the resultant of N-H's gets added up to N-lone pair dipole moment and hence,it is high.

In NH3 the dipole of N-H bond and lone pair is in same direction therefore not resultant becomes greater and in NF3 the dipole due to N-F bonds and lone pair is in opposite direction hence the resultant dipole become less...

the structure of CLO2 is angular.
because it has got a odd electron pair which is decolalised
nd also it's bond angle is 111 degree.
rate me if u find it useful

Right answer allamraju. Its because of cancellation of NF dipole moment with lone pair that NF3 has less dipole moment.
