Assertion-HF is a weak acid,but its strength inc. with inc. in concentration of acid.
Reason-F- reacts with HF to form HF₂^-thereby shifting ionization of H-F to the right.
Plzz help.

in that case ans shud be that assertion is wrong but reason is wrong

Ans: assertion & reason r rite and reason is correct explanation.

the unionised F- reacts wid the HF.. this forms HF2- (as stated in the qsn)

and due to le-chatelier's principle, the equilibrium for the reaction

HF

H+ + F-

is shifted to the right as F- is getting depleted.

and hence, HF will furnish more H+ ions, thus increasing the acidity

Ok agreed the reason is correct,but dont you think the assertion is wrong.
Because for weak acids,degree of dissociation=root(Ka/C)
Thus,if conc. is increased,dissociation will decrease and hence its strength should decrease.But,its given that it increases.Am i wrong somewhere???
