A graph is plotted between PVm along Y-axis and P along X-axis, where Vm is the molar volume of a real gas. Find the intercept along Y-axis.

Ans RT

Please help me i am poor at solving such qns it will be kind of u if any one can also tell me the concepts so that i can solve such other imp qns too

if it is a real gas use vanderwaal's equation
Given n = 1 (molar volume)
( P + a / V^2 ) ( V - b) = RT
PV - Pb + a/V - ab/ V^2 = RT
take PV = y and P = x in the above equation
to get y intercept put x =0
intercept should be RT - a / V - a/ V^2

intercept is RT for ideal gases
