-40..ISN'T IT???......IN MULTIPLICATION FINAL ANSWER MUSTN'T EXCEED THE No. OF SIG. FIGURES IN THE No IN THE QUESTION WITH LEAST SIG. FIGURES ...SO IN BOTH MULTIPLICATIONS IN UR QUEST THE ANSWER SHOULD HAVE ONLY 2 SIGN.FIGURES....SO ANSWERS ARE 360 & 400 TEIR DIFF IS -40..-40 HAS 2 SIG. FIGURES AS IN THE PROCESS 300-400.....PLS RATE IF RIGHT..

Acc. to me it should be 3.9*105 - 3.5*104 Now 3.9*105 gives 409.5, with due regard to significant figures and rounding off-- 410 or 41 * 10^1. 3.5*104 gives 364, with due regard to significant figures and rounding off-- 36 * 10^1 . So 3.9*105 - 3.5*104 = 41 * 10^1 - 36 * 10^1 = 5 * 10^1= 5.0 * 10^1
