ZSM-5 is used in petroleum industry.It converts alcohols directly into gasoline (petrol)by dehydrating them to givea mix.of hydrocarbons.

well zeolites means boiling stone....the water trapped in its pores boils off when we heat a zeolite stone , these can be used in dehydrating alchohols or softening hard water.....

ZSM-5 (zeolite sieve of molecular porosity 5) , it converts alchohols into hydrocarbons

formula for ZSM-5 is Hx[(AlO2)x(SiO2)96-x].16H2O

Alchohols ----(ZSM-5)------> Hydrocarbons
