there is h-bonding in water molecules in form of ice and in between them there are air molecules intact so its density is less
when its temp. is raised the water molecules move twards each other and h-bond. redovelopes , so its density increases
and on further heating h-bond. breaks and its density decreases
tht's why its density is max. at 4
C













due to the presence of tiny air gaps inside the ice
