i want to ask that in the experiment to measure the thermal conductivity of solid with the help of searle's apparatus .. the water that is passsed through the tube carries the heat from the one end and return back to the precceding end of the rod .. ." is this right ?

Yes, it is correct, but the water has to flow from hot end to cool end. Other wise the heat flow on the rod becomes not steady.
