where L represents the original length of the body..

             (Alpha)represents coeff. of linear expansion

and (DELTA) represents change in quantity.

expansion depends upon the measures of the body .... its like the expansions and the contactions occur in per unit form ...... longer the object greater will be the expansion and contraction

how means if original length is 5m then on thermal expansion it will be appro  5.12 if it is 4 then it will be 4.12 like this themal expansion depend on original length
