since i wasnt able to draw any diagram, i made that crude statement.
By point of tangency on c i meant the point where the tangent from D met the circle, which extended to C on th line segment of length c

make rt triangle @ BC the legs are a-c and x+y where x+y corresponds to AD is.now thiis side BC we know in terms of x,y..from tangts from same pt r equal v know tht the length of this side = to c-x + a-y.. so square ul st away get x+y.. which is length of diameter
