Y WORK DONE IS A SCALAR QUANTITY WHEREAS IT IS A PRODUCT OF VECTOR AND SCALAR QUANTITY i.e W=FD AND WE KNOW THAT PRODUCT MUST BE VECTOR BT WE CONSIDERED SCALAR?WHY

 work done is the product of 2 quantities ....force and displacement ( its displacement and not distance) both of which are vectors and its the scalar product or dot product of the two quantities which yeilds onli a scalar and never a vector...!!!

ya its a dot product i.e.W=F.S=FS Cos? so its a scaler product of a vector and scalar quantity results in scalar quantity

mathematically ,dot product of two vecor quantities is scalar and in terms of phyics work done is sclar quantity because it is described in magnitude and not in direction.
