It seems like what dhanuj is doing is correct, but the question is not too clear to me
Is the information given ...
magnitude of a = 3
magnitude of b = 2
magnitude of c = 3 x magnitude of (a x b)
and the angle btwn a and b is pi/3?
in that case the solution is correct.

|c| is a scalar and (3a X b) is a vector how can a scalar be equal to vector??
