Q. The distance of the point (3,8,2) from line (x-1)/2 = (y-3)/4 = (z-2)/3 measured parallel to the plane 3x+2y-2z+5=0 is

please explain the method of solving!

asume the point on the line to be of the form p= 2k+1,4k+3,3k+2
find dirs of the given point and this point..it wud be 2k-2, 4k-5,3k
this will be perpendicular to the normal of the plane as distance is to be measured parallel to the plane...
take dot product wid dirs of normal ie 3,2,-2
ull get k=2
substitute in p u get 5,11,8
use distance formula u get distance as 7
