Vectors
A vector is represented by an arrow. The length of the arrow represents its magnitude, and the direction of the arrow represents its direction.
Tail Nose
Resultant- combined effect of 2 vectors.
If 2 vectors are in a straight line- going in the same direction- add them.
If 2 vectors are in a straight line- going in opposite directions- subtract them.
Adding vectors which are not in a straight line
2 ways – the triangle law and the parallelogram law.
Triangle law
2 vectors must run into each other, nose of vector 1 to tail of vector 2. The 3rd side of the triangle that they form is the resultant.
