ovary is not retroperitoneal.Retroperitoneal means situated behind the peritoneum and thats not the case in ovary...retroperitoneal ovary occurs only in case of ectopic pregnancies(abnormal).

retroperitoneum means anything present behind the peritoneum(The membranous lining of the body cavity  especially the abdominal cavity which surrounds most of the organs. Organs in this space include the pancreas, spleen, and kidneys,ureter etc.ovaries are not retroperitoneal in their position except in abnormal conditiond like in case of pregnancy disorders
