Q. A swimmer wishes to cross a 500 m wide river flowing at 5 km/hr. His speed with respect to water is 3 km/hr.
a) if he heads in a direction making an angle  with the flow, find the time he takes to cross river. (ans: 10 min/sin )
b) find the minimum drift.

Plzzz give detailed sol. with diagram.

Can u plz also tell me the thinking and concept behind these probs???

Newspaper editor and political commentator Henry
Louis Mencken was a force of nature, brushing aside
all objects animal and mineral in his headlong rush
to the publicity that surely awaited him. He seized
5    each day, shook it to within an inch of its life, and
then gaily went on to the next. No matter where his
writing appeared, it was quoted widely, his pungently
outspoken opinions debated hotly. Nobody else could
make so many people so angry, or make so many others
10 l   augh so hard.

9. In lines 4-5, the words ?seized? and ?shook? help
establish which aspect of Mencken?s personality?
(A) His code of honor
(B) His sense of humor
(C) His vindictiveness
(D) His intensity
(E) His petulance

10. The public response described in lines 6-8 most
strongly suggests that Mencken?s writings were
(A) authoritative
(B) controversial
(C) arrogant
(D) informal
(E) frivolous

n-factor for this reaction will be 8.
As KOH will neither reduce or oxidise,
I2 ======= 2I03- + 12H+ + 10 e-
and
I+ 2e- ========2I-

Therefore , net change of electron per mole will be 8.
Plzzz rate me if the above was useful.

As f{f(n)}=3n , f(n+1)>f(n)
f(n)=3 n
Thus,
f(1458)=14583
Therefore,
d)none option is correct.

Let \/(4x-1)
      -----------   = y
      V(4x+1)
y+1/y=8/3
On solving this eq., u will get y=3, -1/3
putting y=3 in our assumption will give  x=-5/18,which is not possible as it will make sqrt negative.
putting y=-1/3, and squaring both sides will give x=5/18.

Plzzz rate me for my answer.

There will be 120 numbers.
On ones digit place(when all numbers are listed for addition) ,
 there will be 24 5's , 24 4's, 24 3's , 24 2's, 24 1's .
There sum will be 24(15)=360
Now, this will repeat for ten's place too and further...

                   No.s
                    No.s
                    No.s
                   No.s
                      .
                      .
                      .
                      .
             -------------------------
Sum            3999960
As u know , the sum of digits at every place (360), u can carry 36 to the next place and find the sum by normal addition.

Plzzzzzzz rate me if this was helpful.

Then, the simplest and fastest method of doing this is as follows:
Find the co-ordinates (-b/2a,-d/4a) of the polynomial ax^2+bx+c, where D is the Discriminant.
This co-ordinate will be the vertex of the parabola of the polnomial, and the rest of the graph will be symmetric about this point.
The graph could be drawn by taking one pt. ahead(x-coordinate) of the point
(-b/2a,-d/4a) and find the y coordinate, and one point before.
Drawing a smooth curve will give the graph.

Plzzzz rate me if this was useful.

As one cordinate is (sin60,0),and p lies withinn the triangle <60.
As another coordinate is (0,cos30),and p lies withinn the triangle
theta>30.
{Draw the figure after drawing x and y-axis, u will get the logic.}
