hey bhavyageethika ....
first of all i have never heard of a concept like "total internal reflection" in sound waves , it is for the light waves ......so i dont think this book's answer can satisfy me ...then again i still hold my original opinion about the question and will still say that what i had discussed earlier is right in my view .....

hey bhavyageethika
i think that the answer for this question shud be the option 3 as the sound being propagated to a larger distance has nothing to do with velocity , its the amount of dissipation of sound energy that matters !!!
but there is one more possibility of 1 also being the answer .... becoz the damping is also proportional to the velocity and in winters the velocity of the sound decreases (as temperature decreases)and hence the damping also gets lessened .......
kindly provide the answer for the query so that others also get benefitted !!!!!!!!

hey patelankit ......
a prism is a transparent medium bounded by any no. of surfaces such that the surface facing incident ray and the surface facing the emergent ray are plane and non parallel .........
now the prism basically is nothing special but application of snells law .....
but the incident ray can be made incident on the surface at various angles ..... now there occurs a situation when the ray emerges at the same angle as it was incident at ..... this condition corresponds to the following phenomenon:
1. the incident and the emergent angle are equal...
2. the ray inside the prism travels parallel to the base of the prism
3. the deviation of the ray from its original direction is minimum in this case
4. the angle after refraction at incident face inside the prism becomes equal to A/2 , A being the prism angle.....
so if you draw a diagram and work out the snells law at the two faces , along with some geometry you can have the above results.....
also this angle of minimum deviation has got application as for small A and small angles of incidence these results reduce to a relation between refractive index and the angle of deviation , allowing us to determine the refractive index experimentally !!!!!!!!!!!!

hello pappa suchi
i think that the particles will still repel each other !!!!!! i didnt get the line :
"I think due to induction they can attract eachother, one has less e- than other so they might attract, B would get atrracted towards A."
by induction also, you see , there may be some little local attraction but as the net charge are positive so the net result will be repulsion between the two ............

hey hermione .........
the following method can be used to get the answer :
see that the fields operating in the system are the two electric fields by the two rings , an external field, and gravity .......
but here for simplicity of the question, the vertical force (net) is zero .... and hence the particle willl move only horizontallly and not vertically ... the initial position being the centre of the ring one and final position being the centre of the ring two ..... so calculate the potentials at the two points and then take the difference and put that equal to the change in kinetic energy ....
1/2 mv2 = Pf - Pi
i hope that you get the answer from here ..... if not then we can have more discussion .............

i think in such a case whichever area is lesser only that much area of
the other plate has charge...and this charge distribution is uniform
over both

hi dhiraj,
i think all the above suggestions are quite valid ......... especially
the sugestion from magiclko ..... plz try to derive relation ships
instead of memorizin them , also work simple problems first ...dont
jump to hard problems right away .... u may feel that these are
useless easy problems but they will help u a lot ...u wont have to
remember any formula ...more over the comparison table technique for
conics is also quite effective ...........u can make notes while
studying the concepts in tabular form for various conics ...... and
then go through that again and again.............
remember conic sections are all about practice .... the more u work
out with them , the more comfortable u feel with them

hii .....
well this i think we will have to go to a lab and find out what
happens??? you see the reason for above facts is that the properties
of these materials are such that if they are rubbed against some other
specific material then they develop charge ......now what can happen
when they are interchanged is hard to speculate.... in fact there can
be a situatin that nothing happens .......so i'll say that u go to ur
school lab and then find out and then you discuss it with the whole
community

hiii anni.kalya
i think Mr. Arun is suggesting the correct thing .....but as there is
shortage of time so i may say that u can follow a ceratin order for
doing your organic course ....... what u r suggesting about sanyal MAY
not be enough ..........
i will say that u can follow this order ::
aldehydesand ketones then hydrocarbons and then alcohols and
acids................
but u see .. jee is very unpredictable so u cant rely on only these
chapters ........
my first suggestion would be to work even harder and try to do all of
the syllabus

hey ......
dude u have done a lot of stuff for being in 11th only ..... hats off
to u !!!!!!!!!!!!
but lemme give u some future guidelines ........
first of all remember that it is not about how many books u solve its
about remembering and understanding the concept behind even if u do
one or two books ...... so i'll suggest that u start revising watever
u have covered till now !!!! revision will get ur concepts even more
clarified ................
secondly start taking tests at home or at centre .......... u will get
exposed to many new experiences thru this and this will help u to
reduce ur silly mistakes.................
well in my opinion these are books are enough for jee
............provided u know them as on ur fingertips !!!!!!!!!!

hi.........
sorry for being a little late , i got caught in middle of something
.............nywayz well
the chapters ROTATION and EMI are quite major ones and waves too is
difficult to get hold of in the beginning !!!! don worry just practice
.......... i 'll suggest that u cover all these three topics from
irodov ..... u may take some time but dont just sit down n start doin
irodov ..... first go thru these chapters from some other book say
arihant along with solved examples ..... read all of it very carefully
so that u understand wat approach is employed for solving the problem
??? then i think u will get help in solving problems .....also u can
refer to ur fiitjee material for solved examples but plz dont just
read them .... work with them ..... after u r done doin all this and u
still want to do more problems ...go for the unsolved ones in arihant
etc........
for these 3 months i will have to say that plz dont waste much time in
doin newer concepts....and immediately side by side start revising
what u have done till now ............ revising is very very important
...... also take more n more tests(at home or at centre) !!!!!!!!!
now last but not the least ..... mantain ur cool ....u know its all
about how u handle things at the mains centre .... if u become nervous
u will get fumbled up and wont be able to give ur full ......so plz
dont worry much and think it like this way that u r still much better
than many others out there !!!!!! study but enjoy too .... take breaks
....listen to music....etc ............in the end its all about how u

hey avinash.......
its very good that with putting a small effort you get good results
......... but you have got to understand that JEE as well as olympiads
both demand constant and hard work ........
i can assure you that if you dont work hard enough then there is a
higher probability of you performing not well ............ please dont
take me wrong ............ but please try to understand !!!! it is
possible that you are able to crack all of these exams but the
probability of that happening becomes lesser so why take a risk ????
there is so much at stake !!!!! it doesn't matter that you have wasted
all your time till now , as you are able to get good marks by just
putting in 1.5 hrs a day , i presume that you are a fast learner ....
so no problems you can start right now ...........start your
preparations as soon  as possible and do it in a planned manner
!!!!!!!!! i wish u best of luck for ur coming time and also will be
glad to hear from u if in case u have any doubts
