personallly i think b=d=k=m=kgp ...

a lot of ppl have issues against diff iits cause theyre located at an uncomfortable distance from where theyre settled...theyll obviously prefer something closer to home...

in most ranking criteria...the iits will all match up...

cse mtech dual...iiit h is knwn for its cs dept...

im not an expert...but i know tht u have usually only one roommate (occasionally 2) in the 1st yr and single rooms from the 2nd yr on...hope this is of help:)

from wht ive heard from present iitians(ive spoken to a lot)...iit madras is supposed to have the best hostel facilities...ive seen iit madras and iit bombay...honstly iit bombay isnt very appealing(hostel wise)...madras is well structured...

i secured air 811...

here is my problem...

i will get mech in madras/chem in bombay(not looking at the other iits...)

my preferred course is mechanical...but i dont know enough about chem to say i will dislike it or anything...

but as far as iit is concerned everyone tells me iit bombay is better to study in...the life is relaxed and fun...i prefer bombay for other reasons as well...

i plan to do an mba later so course dosent matter too much...

also jobwise i want to work for a couple of yrs be4 proceeding for an mba...mech provides better inital placements...

do i choose branch or institute??

OK point taken...i cannot say im a die hard cs fan...but i would definitely prefer cs over any other branch...ive been hearing tht guwahati is unsafe (is it??) which is why im doubtful...can anybody tell me specifically about the IIT G cs department??...im orginially from madras and would otherwise most likely take mech in IIT M...

Ive got AIR 811...and based on 2005 facts..ill get cs in iit guwahati...but my qn is...how come the branch closes(rather closed:D) at an astonishing 1100+ rank!!...IIT is IIT and cs in IIT is CS IN IIT!!!!...why the bias against Guwahati???

with air 811...i guess my only hope of mainstream iit is mech in chennai...esp if seats do increase as rumored...
