a = 1.2 kg
b = 5.42g = 0.00542
see its very simple
i when we add we get 1.20542 ..but in a only the first decimal figure is significant
therefor all the other figure after the second decimal are insignificant.
now we have to round off the second decimal figure 0. The digit next to it is 5 n 0 is even ... therefore it is left unaltered . Thus the answer is 1.20 kg.

{he fills his 5 pint jug ---------> this he pours into 4 pint jug }--------------1
remainin is 1 pint in the 5pint jug --------------> this he pours into his 10 pint jug 1
Again repeat step 1 n pour to 10 pint jug 1
so there you have one 2 pint measure!!
do the same again n pour into 10pint jug 2
so there it is !! you have distributed 2 pint to the two ladies!
---------------------------
do rate me if right!
