College of Engineering, Guindy is a superb institution with an awesome reputation. But, if you are getting Mechanical in Warangal, then you should go for it if you are good in Physics because of the sheer environment there AND the peer group you'll get. If you are not too particular about all that, then Anna may be a safe choice as well, paricularly if a Tamilian or living in Chennai. But, otherwise Warangal is the place for you!! Moreover, it might just be upgraded to an IIT in the next 2 years(20% chance). Also, the college is on an upswing.

Amangem, ECE is the 1 of the best departments in NIT Trichy in terms of faculty, industry interface and the like. So, don't go about yelling at poor perpetual. Btw, ya i would also suggest a EEE in NIT Trichy because the college is on an upswing unlike say, NIT Suratkal(in most disciplines). Don't ask BITS students alone, even ask their alumni and they will tell you that a NIT Trichy B.Tech will be far more useful for a prospective engineer(remember-BITS' broad based curriculum is ideal for ppl not really set out to make a life out of the B.Tech degree!) in terms of the overall. So, if you are looking at EEE, then just head for NIT Trichy and take a few added courses i computers, and you'll have a swell future ahead of you!!!

NIT Trichy is the best overall, closely followed by Warangal and Surathkal in that order. Bhopal and Nagpur are also quite good, apart from Calicut and Rourkela.

go for mech in madras or kanpur or delhi. Or else go for some very good and interesting branch(for you) at Roorkee.

Mech in Pilani is a wiser opton unless you are way too interested in electronics. But, Electronics in Goa is a very good option in itself. It is really a branch VS college question. if u were interested in the 11th std physics we had, not only mechanics, infact a lot of hydrodynamics, thermodynamics, etc is there as well in mech engg.)then there is no reason why you will find mech. a bad career option. Infact, a very good mechanical engineer is somewhat more prestigious and remunerated than his Electronics counterpart and if you wanna specialise with Master's then the USA will also be a probable destination for it if you do mech from Pilani. So, think it over but if you are really interested in electronics, then just go to Goa maan. A rate will not bother me too much, actually!!

you will get civil and chemical or one of them. if u get production engg. take that also. civil and chemical r both good options, espc chemical at trichy.

Ganesh, use the following books: Resnick & Halliday and HC Verma for Physics(both since theory and concepts and not speed is most important for iit physics). For Chemistry, get hold of a FIITJEE student (preferrably classroom courser) senior and ask him for his books plus compendium or else xerox a contemporary's FIITJEE Chemistry. It is self sufficient, precise and God-like. Anything else is also good but not for IITJEE. As for Mathematics, you better use ARIHANT for Calculus and Algebra, and then just buy or borrow or xerox(it's not at all uneconomical in students' xerox shops) a TMH Maths and devour it. No magazines are required. As for Test papers, I really really suggest you join a Test series(Brilliant or FIITJEE) and check yourself out against national competition. Best of luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hoping, you are getting AIR 1750 to 2350. Rate me if you feel like.

P- 48 M-52 C57 This is the maximum I see it going to. M and P might just interchange.

You should get urself Resnick plus HC Verma(it costs much less than DCP anyways). For Maths, if u r attending classes anyways, then TMH will be the best. Otherwise, look at Arihant since it is of high quality and superb for hard workers. For Chemistry, I suggest that you get some seniors' FIITJEE material and Compendium(Classroom coaching) and Xerox the whole thing up. That will be ideal since you will be in a position to milk the book fully and that's what is needed for JEE Chemistry. Don't forget to ask for the FIITJEE Chem Compendium(Classroom Coaching). It is a deadly combo and if you restrict yourself to these books and NCERT for Chemistry then you can clear JEE provided you revise thoroughly. For Physics, you can use both Resnick and HCV for theory(since that is the most important for JEE-concepts). Then, HCV also contains numerous objective questions as well which will be useful. Plus, an additional MCQ Bank for Physics like TMH or something might come in handy if you are ready to work really hard to finish off the already said books. Huff, Pant.... I think I deserve a rate. Dont you?

You will surely clear cutoff. Hope for Mechanical (optimistic) in Pilani or Chemical and Civil(realistic) in Pilani. In Goa, you might get all three of these or atleast the last two for sure. I repeat, Civil and Chemical in Pilani are all but sure for you in Pilani . Rate me if you find the answer useful.

Thank you Sarthak, and can the others pls tell me something more about the placements and scope for these 2 branches? Also, which is better Civil or Metallurgy?

Sarvesh Maan, your score is quite good but the state is the worry. Yes, a Civil in one of the top NITs is all but assured and I would bet you scraping through with a Mechanical also (70%) in one of the top 3 NITs. But, Computers is almost out of reach. Don't worry and don't forget ki rate naam ki bhi ek cheez hoti hai!

Yeah! you have less chances of making it to IIITH. It is also in great demand. But you can get into a top NIT with ECE or a Computers if state of origin is favourable. Rate me if useful
