IT depends :

1. ELECTRIC FIELD

  velcoity of beam

    a. along electric field-it gets accelerated

    b. perpendicular to field nothing happens

2.Magnetic field

velcoity of beam

    a. parallel to magnbetic field

    b. perpendicular to field a force perpendicular to velocity instantaneously acts where f=q(total charge of beam).v X B

the answer is 4k/3 , the relation k=pi^2/8 and the ans=pi^2/6 is also correct OBVIOUSLY .

Still the taking 1/4 common from the progression is an easier apprach than calculus
