Just remember, an FIR is a very very serious thing...

First use the advice that the people here are giving, along with that which people around you in real life give + the stuff that you can think up yourself.
If you really can't change anything despite all that, or you can't come to terms with what is happening around you, then i would seriously recommend you read some philosophy books. I have been perenially depressed for most of my teen years and I used to turn to philosophy and music to escape. I would recommend you read Buddhist philosophy, cause Buddhism is not a religion, and I would also recommend you read up on Karma and stuff like that.....I really mean what I say, but do this only if you can't take it anymore, cause otherwise, you might not tend to take it seriously. It's only when we really are in trouble that we can appreciate stuff like this.
Let me tell you one thing about suicide, do NOT go for it. It will affect everyone around you in an incredibly horrible way......

Ya that's what I thought too....It's not really a bad course and I have the IIT brand name.....I won't take up CSE at Trichy even if I get it....I got AIR 8052 and TN State Rank 137....I might just get EEE at Trichy but Mechanical more or less sure.....

No clue how much tickets cost....A pretty packet for a minimum of two people to & fro I would guess.....

Don't believe dr.dane . From what I know, you just have to do some extra credits related to Elec before you can plunge into the course full length.
Don't leave such dangerous questions out in the open. The answers could make or break your career. Speak to a placement officer somewhere, or talk to a senior at IIT/Anywhere else for that matter who is now doing an MS....

I have been offered Biotech Dual at IITM and am planning to take it up. Should I go for AIEEE counselling at Trichy? I mean, I live in Chennai, and have to buy tickets, arrange accomodation for two days, pay 15,000 Rs deposit all for a seat which I am not planning to take up anyway. What do you think?

I would recommend you put IIT Roorkee before the others. It is what I would have done, simply because it still has the IIT brand name which the others MAY not carry, not sure. I had my counselling today, and certainly if I had to decide, I would have done that. The opening and closing ranks tell you the full story, don't they, of the still prevailing (whether true or not) public perception of Dhanbad and Varanasi as opposed to the other IITs. Anyway, having been through this myself, I can tell you it is ENTIRELY your decision and a variety of people will provide you with a host of inputs which YOU must decide from.
Mabe you COULD consider trying again, though I know I would definitely not be able to survive this madness again...........

I tried studying elecstat purely from Resnick without any teaching (coz I missed a few classes, and hence the whole topic) and couldn't understand head or tail of it. I spent forever (2 to 3 months) learning bits and pieces of it (from JEE 2007's AIR 39, hehe, so the teaching was damn good) before I could feel comfortable with the topic. My friend, you are not alone!!
I got AIR 2291 by the way.

If I wanted to branch off into completely different areas later, which would help me more, Civil or Biotech? That is, which will apply the blinkers and not allow me to go outside the subject? Is Biotech really thaaat up and coming? I heard the Biotech dept at IITM is new and not that good. And Civil at IITK is supposed to be the best, with Civil at IITM closely following. What sort of aptitude do I need for Biotech (or Civil for that matter)?
How about Civil Dual at IITB? Would that come on top?
Pleeeeeeeease reply, cause counselling's tomorrow and I'm still verrrrry confused.

@bipin/someone inside IIT (No offense to kumarkriti at all, I really appreciate the effort you put into your posts, but I would really like it if an insider could confirm what you're saying) Can we really do well with merely four-six hours of study a day?
