Government of India has laid down a Three-Exam Scheme --JEE and AIEEE for National Level Institutions and the State Level Engineering Entrance Examinations (SLEEE) for State Level Institutions, thereby making Engineering Entrance compulsory for all aspirants.
A brief introduction of AIEEE: AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Examination) conducted by CBSE was started in 2002. It is usually conducted in the month of May & application forms are available right from December/January. So look for the advertisement in daily national newspapers during this time period. Lakhs of students apply to vie for approximately 35000 seats all over India, including NIT?s i.e National Institute of Technology (formerly Regional Engineering Colleges (RECs)).
Clearing AIEEE is not a huge task. Of course it?s not that easy also!!! AIEEE consists of CBSE syllabus of Physics Chemistry & mathematics. It has 35% from 11th CBSE, 35% from12th CBSE & 30% bit higher level. This also includes some common topics from 11th & 12th of state board.
A two year planned, organized preparation for AIEEE is all that is required. AIEEE has got multiple choice questions, and it has negative marking....so no blind bluffs!!
Set a time table in which you have sufficient time for all three subjects. Lets take Chemistry first. Chemistry?s syllabus is quite vast, & takes quite long time to prepare. However, it?s quite scoring subject. Basic things required here is clarity of concepts & lots of practice of problem solving. While dealing with Physics, follow same procedure as chemistry. However, you need to be reasonably FAST in problem solving. Be it Physics, Chemistry or Maths, precision of time & accuracy is very important in AIEEE. Always exercise time pressure while solving AIEEE papers. With Maths there is always great time contraint. So do calculations by short methods, leave unimportant steps.... without making mistake.
There are two major differences in IIT-JEE and AIEEE question papers. AIEEE is based on formula based problems while IIT-JEE is based on applied ones. While speed is of utmost importance in AIEEE, the manner of solving is important in JEE-mains.
Generally one book does not help to crack AIEEE. For theory of Chemistry use 11th & 12th std CBSE chemistry book & for problems use Chemistry for AIEEE, a TATA MCgrawHill publication. Chemistry theory can also be reviewed by using Chemistry for Competitive Exams by R.D Sharma. You can use ABC of Chemistry of both 11th & 12th classes.
For Physics books of Interactive Physics (all volumes) are helpful.
For maths, Mathematics by R. D. Sharma, M. L. Khanna, and A. S. Dasgupta along with Mathematics for AIEEE (Tata McGraw Hill Publication) are worth to prepare.
Book shaping your conceptual understanding should be preferred. There is plethora of Problem solving books. Also solving other competitive examination problems never harms.
Practice a lot. Gather and implement tips, gain confidence, be positive, and you will ace AIEEE. For more information, log on www.aieee.nic.in Advantage IIT-JEE students:
